As is LFW tradition, Paul Costelloe was the first designer to show his Spring / Summer 2012 collection, and if I could sum it up in one word, I'd go with 'sweet'. 60s silhouettes, trapeze shapes, marshmallow colours and a dash of humbug stripes made up a collection that fused girlie, young shapes with grown-up fabrics and romantic details, with frills, pleats and texture all playing a huge part in the show...

One thing was for sure; as far as Paul Costelloe is concerned, next Summer, hemlines and necklines are going up. From neat little suits to swingy coats, almost everything (bar the menswear!) was high-necked with a short, swingy skirt.

The collection started out with a muted palette, but soon gave way for mint green and soft coral brocades, bright embellished minis with high ruffled necks and some amazing nipped-waist dresses with full shoulders and skirts in black and white.
