Alexandra Gardner one to watch.jpg

Here at Catwalk Queen we love supporting young, up-and-coming designers, and discovering just what emerging talent is toiling away within our universities. That is why I was delighted when an email from Alexandra Gardner landed in my inbox. The recent Nottingham Trent University graduate took her light-filled womenswear collection to the runway at Graduate Fashion Week in June.

Inspired by the relationship between the often opposing man-made and natural worlds, Alexandra incorporated her research of open landscapes through glass into her début collection. Although sticking to a relatively minimalist theme, pieces were created from a range of materials (jerseys, cottons, wools, and silks) to allow them to fall, fold and drape in natural forms. Definitely one to keep an eye on!
