CQ Gallery: Fandom and fashion at 2011 Comic-Con
Ogling the ladies at Comic-Con isn't just for the boys when the ladies are dressing this well. Comic-Con is a convention for comic book and sci-fi/fantasy enthusiasts that has become more mainstream in recent years with the rise of the genres in popular culture, television and filmmaking. It's become less nerdy, and it's become cooler to be nerdy, so there you have it. Now there's fashion of more than just the Storm Trooper variety to report on.
Carey Mulligan was at the convention to promote her new movie "Drive," and went avant-garde in color-blocked Roksanda Ilincic. "True Blood" stars and real-life married people Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer participated in their series' panel, with Paquin in a sexy Antonio Berardi exposed-zipper dress. Also very sexy was "Cowboys and Aliens" star Ana de la Reguera in sheer Gucci. One of the most popular events of the conference was the panel for "The Amazing Spider Man" with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone in an LBD and pin that read "What would Laura do?" in honor of producer Laura Ziskin who passed away from cancer this year. Perhaps a bit over dressed was Olivia Wilde, in floor-length lace Dolce & Gabbana for "Cowboys and Aliens."
