Camilla Al Fayed takes part ownership of Issa
One of Kate Middleton's favourite labels, Issa, has a new owner. Camilla Al Fayed has purchased a controlling share of the London label, which was founded by Brazilian designer, Daniella Issa Helayel.
Al Fayed has taken a 51 percent share in the company which has been restructured for the global market. Her new role will be that of chairwoman and she will be in charge of overseeing the commercial expansion of Issa. Helayel, who retains a 49 percent stake, will stay on as creative director. "I looked at a lot of investors, and Camilla came with the best fit. She has the infrastructure behind her, she's well connected, and she will open a lot of doors," said Helayel.
Issa will launch its first e-commerce site in the next few weeks, and soon will open a standalone store in London. Al Fayed said: "I believe in Daniella's creativity; she is a friend; I admire her passion and drive, and I see potential in making Issa a global lifestyle brand."
