Breaking: Amy Winehouse found dead at her London home
Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her London home yesterday. The troubled crooner is believed to have died from a suspected drug overdose, after police were called to her £2.5 million North London home.
Winehouse, just 27, has battled a long and well-publicised drug and alcohol addiction for many years. It was understood that she was devastated after her former boyfriend, director Reg Traviss, broke up with her just prior to her checking in to The Priory rehab clinic last month.
Her mother, Janis, admitted it was "only a matter of time." After meeting her just 24 hours before her death, Janis said "she seemed out of it. But her passing so suddenly still hasn't hit me."
A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "Inquiries continue into the circumstances of the death, which at this stage is being treated as unexplained. We do have people we're speaking to but nobody has been arrested."
Amy had recently completed her third album, but the release had been delayed by her record company due to her stint in rehab. Her impact on the music and fashion worlds will always be remembered.
