The standard at the Liverpool show at Graduate fashion week unfortunately failed to excite this year in the same way that the university's students have done in the past. Considering that the collections are not designed to be customer-friendly and are the students first real opportunity to show what they can do, the collections were disappointingly uncreative.

Simple loose fitted dresses, waterfall leather waistcoats and simple chunky knitwear all made appearances but lacked the creativity that we saw from Nottingham Trent and the international schools. Menswear remained predictable with students sending simple tracksuit bottoms in grey with folded draped pockets, harem trousers and shorts and basic hoodies.

Designers like Lauren Scofield tried to experiment with shape with dresses with wiring along the hem and dramatic elevated necklines and Lauren Smith played with proportions too by teaming volumous tops with leggings and chiffon appeared too. Hayley Walker's collection was interesting as she decided to play with the classic white shirt by having cut outs at the back in a minimalist fashion.
