Replicas of Kate Middleton's wedding dress hit the high street
It didn't take long for the first replicas of Kate Middleton's wedding dress to hit the high street. Less than a week following the royal wedding and a copy of the Alexander McQueen gown has arrived at House of Fraser.
Northern Irish designer Mary-Rose McGrath began to whip up the lookalike creation just 24 hours after the nuptials. Now it is proudly on display outside of HoF in Victoria Square, Belfast.
"I've a really brilliant team. We gathered together on Friday and the minute Kate stepped out we were sketching and began to cut fabrics," said McGrath.
It is available to order in-store starting from £1,500. Of course it's not the only copy-cat design - a US label, ABS by Allen Schwartz, plans to launch a version for $900 in June. While a bride in China got straight onto it, marrying her husband in a Duchess of Cambridge-inspired gown 36 hours after the royal wedding.
