roland mouret claudia schiffer 2009 event.jpgOld pals Roland Mouret and Claudia Schiffer have been named judges in this year's Fashion Fringe. The pair fill the shoes of John Galliano, who acted as honorary chairperson last year and was set to repeat his role this year, but for obvious reasons is not available.

Mouret and Schiffer join Anne Pitcher, managing director of Selfridges; Roy Peach, dean of the graduate school at the London College of Fashion, and Bel Jacobs, style editor at the Metro newspaper on the judging panel.

Applications to enter the designer program, which was founded by Colin McDowell in 2004, open today. Up for grabs is a two-year development package worth £100,000 including cash, business advice, mentoring and a studio at London's Somerset House, as well as an on-schedule show at London Fashion Week. Three designers will be selected to show their collections during London Fashion Week in September, when a winner will be chosen.
