We always welcome a high street / high fashion collaboration here at Catwalk Queen, and when New Look announced their partnership with the London College of Fashion to design a new range of footwear, we couldn't help but get a little excited.

Available to buy in store nationwide and online in mid-May, the collection consists of six unique creations by four LCF MA Fashion Footwear students, who I managed to catch up with at the press launch this week.

Decided by a high profile judging panel, including Giles Deacon, the winning design by Chang Seok Ko, who produced three of the six designs, incorporated a bleached denim technique; "My inspiration was a hot summer in a tropical region, where the sun blazes down and colours appear to vanish. Under the intense sun, colours are bleached away and appear almost white or faded. I used a bleaching technique and frayed the raw edges of my chosen materials denim and leather." Chang was impressed by the detail and intricacies that New Look were able to accommodate from his design, "My end product is so close to the original design, I'm really happy with it".

Another stand out pair for us was the heavy wedge platforms by second place student Ruth Jones, "My inspiration came from the circus and playing with brights, colours, textures, contrasts and interesting silhouettes." - I was actually lusting after the more demure all black version. All six styles come in at reasonable price points, with the highest being £49.99, the aforementioned platforms, which I'm actually really tempted to buy.
