Confirmed: Christophe Decarnin exiting Balmain
After five years, Christophe Decarnin is parting ways with Balmain. The label is expected to announce the departure of the designer today, followed by a declaration of his who will take his place.
Decarnin was notably absent from Paris Fashion Week with many rumours flying that he had been admitted to a mental hospital. Those whispers were swiftly cleared up by the fashion house which confirmed he had sought treatment for depression. The real reason behind the separation is believed to point towards tensions between the designer and Balmain's chairman and chief executive officer Alain Hivelin.
"The two men [are] said to have widely divergent views on the company's strategy and future direction," reports WWD. An internal candidate is expected to be named as Decarnin's successor shortly.
