A brand new image of Kate Middleton and Prince William has been released. The black-and-white photo appears in the royal wedding official programme, in which the couple declare how "incredibly moved" they are by the affection shown to them since their engagement.

Captured by Mario Testino, who photographed the couple's official engagement photos, the programme will no doubt become a keepsake souvenir. Inside the programme, Kate and William write: "We are both so delighted that you are able to join us in celebrating what we hope will be one of the happiest days of our lives. The affection shown to us by so many people during our engagement has been incredibly moving, and has touched us both deeply. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone most sincerely for their kindness."

The close-up shot is a candid look at the couple who appear in matching open neck white shirts. Both have big smiles and look genuinely thrilled to be together.

It's that relaxed attitude, which Testino says makes the best photos: "So a lot of fussing around technically can completely break the spell, and everyone freezes up with nerves. Even someone as photographed as the Royal Family needs to feel completely comfortable if they are to look their best."

"Two people in love have a glow and a presence more powerful than anything else, and I wanted that to be the subject of the picture."

As for photographing Kate, he added: "I already felt very confident that she would be an easy sitter, as she has natural grace, a very open personality, and a beautiful face and posture... It was a real treat to photograph her."

"She has already developed a perfect sense of Royal responsibility, she brings life, a delightful sense of humour, and joy into the room when she walks in."
