Paris Fashion Week Stella McCartney AW11.jpg

Stella McCartney's Autumn/Winter collection can be received in one of two ways. Either her legion of loyal fans will embrace her experimentation this season and the designer will bag some new fans who were not typical 'McCartney' girls, or she could alienate her typical customer base. What way the pendulum will swing is still unclear but what is apparent is that the designer definitely wants to play with new things and move out of her comfort zone.

Tops were presented in strong cocoon shapes, gold quilted coats appeared and printed dresses with batwing sleeves all made an appearance. Dresses with subtle pleats arrived with dramatic sleeves that didn't always work so well, however Stella continued to play with volume in a more subtle way on simple black tops. Changes aside, the classic Stella pieces were all there. An all-in-one appeared in black - but unfortunately wasn't as strong as the versions we've seen in the past - and blazers and coats hit the runway in masculine simple breasted styles.
