There is nothing like a bit of Alber Elbaz to brighten up your day. And on Friday, Elbaz's A/W '11 collection for Lanvin did just that. Set against a stunning tree-filled backdrop, models started out in preacher-style rounded dark suits and capes, embellished at the neck with shiny metal pieces and topped off with a wide brimmed hat. He then added only a touch of colour in navy and red suits, which all bore medallion fastenings, before switching over to a sexy off-the-shoulder cocktail dress.

For winter, legs were on full display along with mid-heel pumps and flat mannish loafers. The party girl soon emerged in long floaty kaftan-style gowns, as well as short lace numbers, puffed prom-style minidresses and large rose-printed taffeta frocks. I also adored the flashes of bold in mustard, fuchsia, and fire engine red dresses adorned with brooches, corsages and floral fascinators. Pure delight.
