Closing Milan Fashion Week yesterday was my old pal (ha!) Giorgio Armani. In grand style, the designer proved that time slows down for no one with the unveiling of a spectacular A/W '11 collection, which cited the boudoir as his main reference.
With that in mind, it was time to launch a series of super luxe, super feminine pieces onto the runway. Using a colour scheme of mostly silver, black and dusty rose, Armani displayed an abundance of silks, satins, feathers, fur, fringe, lace and embroidery. There was a new trouser style that we should be soon be taking note of - cropped, with a swishy flare. The long bell skirt also made another appearance this MFW although in a heavier form. But the best was saved to last, with a parade of sparkly metallic fabrics which floated along in pant suits, day frocks and embellished evening gowns.
