Matthew Williamson unveils new bridal line
With an affinity for gorgeous, feminine frocks it was only a matter of time before Matthew Williamson turned his talents over to bridal wear. The designer has just unveiled his new bridal line, a 12-piece collection including bridesmaid dresses.
Of course it's not the first time Williamson has dabbled in wedding attire, he launched a capsule collection with Net-a-Porter a year ago, which proved to be successful sales-wise. The step into a fully fledged line came after he noticed many brides-to-be buying pieces of his eveningwear for their big day. He also designed wedding gowns for his sister, best friend and Kelis who married Nas in a celebrity-filled wedding.
According to WWD, the collection features "a parachute gown, a poppy georgette embellished shift dress and a tulle cocktail dress with hand-sewn ivory-colored feathers," which are also a few of Williamson's favourites. One-shoulder bridesmaid dresses and jewel-encrusted mink and rabbit fur shrugs complete the line.
The collection wholesales from $1,400 to $3,300 and may become part of a trunk show at his New York flagship store on April 9. What are your thoughts on his new bridal collection? Share your comments below.
