Kate Middleton dress fetches up to £65,000 at auction!
Wow that's a lot of cash for a not a lot of dress! The sheer dress which first attracted Prince WIlliam to Kate Middleton back in 2002 has sold at auction for a whopping £65,000.
Kate modelled the dress, which cost just £30 to make, in a charity show for St Andrews University while she and the Prince were students. Designed by Charlotte Dodd, who created the piece as part of a project called The Art of Seduction, the designer says it was "pure luck" that Kate got to wear it.
Bidding for the dress skyrocketed from £20,000 as the black and turquoise number fetched six times more than the original estimate. The winning buyer was reportedly "very happy" with his purchase which he considers an "iconic piece."
"I never imagined as I sat knitting this piece it would be so important," added Dodd, a textiles graduate of the University of the West of England. No doubt she is one very happy lady right now.
