New York Fashion Week: Marchesa Fall 2011
More luxe evening delicacies were on the menu at the presentation of Marchesa's Fall 2011 collection. It appears Charles Dickens' Miss Havisham was a popular character inspiration this season (Prabal Gurung was also taken by the decaying world of the Havisham muse).
Finding a world stuck on pause in the romantic Victorian times, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig used layers of tulle, uneven frayed hems, intricate lace, embroideries, and corsetry. For bridal, the ever-imaginative duo incorporating oversized head pieces and veils. My only criticism is that it would be lovely to see some of these creations move on the runway instead of standing motionless on pedestals.
