For Fall 2011, Vera Wang gave her signature romantic aesthetic a shake up by introducing a harder edge. Dresses came teamed with chunky black ankle boots in open and closed toe styles and floaty dresses in nude were instantly made relevant teamed with a utility-like parka jackets.

Pleats were a common fixed this season coming in on vintage-style drop waist dresses in mushroom as well as on more classic silhouettes teamed with fox fur gillets. Although the collection began in neutrals, Wang later introduced a selection of dresses such a sheer low cut knee length style in mustard and a round neck floaty over-the-knee look in deep red and the collection ended with a selection of edgy black looks.
