New York Fashion Week: Betsey Johnson Fall 2011
It's 50 years since Betsey Johnson started out in the fashion business and true to form, she's sticking to her guns. Yesterday she presented a collection featuring all of the ingredients that we've all grown to love and expect from the designer.
The show was divided into two parts. In the first section, Johnson sent professional models down the runway in black wigs in black and metallic pieces. Leather shorts were styled with zebra print tights and a Victorian style black and grey jacket with accentuated shoulders and skater skirt dresses came in grey velvet teamed with a fur shawl and hand warmer. In the second part of the show, Johnson's employees - coming in all shapes and sizes - hit the runway in blonde wigs. A Floral maxi dress was styled over a animal printed long sleeve top styled with open toe ankle boots. Tartan appeared on mini dresses teamed with opaques and a big skull came on a black knit top teamed with a knee length skirt covered in the print.
Leopard print was everywhere appearing on a skater skirt dress styled with clashing leopard print tights. If Johnson's love for all things animal print wasn't clear enough, a bright blue top came with a leopard printed across the front in all its glory.
