New York Fashion Week: Rag & Bone Fall 2011
Although we won't see them showing their collection at London Fashion Week any time soon, Marcus Wainwright and David Neville show no sign of forgetting about their British roots. Yesterday their collection was all about playing with the quintessentially British classics but bringing them bang up to date.
Tartan appeared throughout like on a over the knee skirt in the print that came with a nude fringed hemline teamed with a simple black crew neck top and nude motorcycle jacket with an asymmetric gold zip. It also manifested itself on dresses layered under biker jackets in the same print. The designers also played with the duffle coat sending a bright blue version down the runway with brown leather pockets and cuffs, giving this classic in instant update.
We all know how difficult it is to balance looking chic in the cold months whilst actually keeping warm but the designers had that down packed. Hiking boots were styled with thick leg warmers, heavy winter jackets with thick wool sleeves and skin tight printed trousers.
