Milan Fashion Week A/W 2011: Versace
It is always great to see what Donatella Versace is dishing up, especially just ahead of the Academy Awards. Her sizzling and seductive Autumn/Winter 2011 collection is bound to attract a few Hollywood-ites in time for this Sunday's Oscars.
First out of the box was a sleek black military coat with brass detailing which led a series of asymmetrical and edgy little black dresses. Featuring a bold blue and yellow vine motif that curled all the way up, dresses were short with sexy splits and sharply tailored. They were followed up by even more admiral coats in both black and white, and matched with mid-calf length buttoned boots so that models resembled soldiers marching down the catwalk.
Then came the colour. In flashes of red, green, purple and blue, the floral vine graphic continued to adorn dresses and coats which were topped off by furry collars. Leather was also no stranger to this collection, with dominatrix-style long coats belted in at the waist bearing more brass embellishments.
For evening, the feathers were flying with long and short dresses sweeping by in a cloud of plumage. Oozing with allure, you could easily see January Jones fitting into one of these floor-length bodice dresses with a split skirt, or a bold coloured minidress which flounced with feathers as it moved.
