Milan Fashion Week A/W 2011: Fendi
Collage has been a familiar theme running throughout many of the shows this season so far, and Fendi is no exception. Helmed by Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi, the label's A/W '11 collection was based on the work of German Dada artist, Kurt Schwitters.
Against a backdrop of different textures and fabrics, the duo presented a practical, sportswear in rounded silhouettes. Voluminous trench-style coats, cropped trousers, ruffle applique blouses, and oversized fur coats gave this collection substance. In varying shades of brown, khaki and grey, the odd embellishment was left to semiprecious stones. While mish-mash of mink, fox fur, leather, tartan, and shearling offered a distinct collage feel. For a dash of bright colour, legs were covered in mustard, orange and cherry tights.
