Milan Fashion Week A/W 2011: Alberta Ferretti
It is time for shorter hems in Winter, says Alberta Ferretti. For A/W 2011, it's all about the minidress. But before you exclaim "no way, not in Europe's freezing temperatures!" Ferretti adds that while legs may be out, they'll be covered up. And here's how - in over-the-knee velvet boots created in bold colours such as electric blue, purple, and fuchsia. That's how!
But before you had a chance to fully take in the extreme boots and A-line tunic dresses in eye-popping squiggly or metallic brocade prints, Ferretti was switching gears with a series of feminine and floaty sequin and crystal-encrusted nude frocks.
Then came the long red carpet numbers which seemed to fly in the face of Ferretti's earlier statement that short hems are it. Nevertheless, she does them so well it was clear from her black dress parade, which arrived in floor-length, lace and embellished forms, that its a woman's prerogative to change her mind.
