London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2011: Simone Rocha
Despite Fashion East showcasing the designs of three young designers, all eyes were on Simone Rocha. Expectations of her debut collection in collaboration with Fashion East were high. After all, she's lucky enough to call John Rocha dad so has always been exposed to fashion. For yet another season, John showed a collection to a rapturous applause and for fall, Simone proved that she's a chip off the old block.
The collection's strength lay in it's simplicity. There was no fuss or gimmicks, just solid wearable pieces. Blazers appeared in double breasted boyfriend styles - something we've seen a lot of this season - and a nude single breasted style which was teamed with a dress featuring a structured collar in the same hue. A floor-length nude cape appeared with fringing on the hemline as did a sleeveless knit dress.
Although the collection was a strong debut, the pieces seemed more appropriate for a spring collection than a winter one. If you're thinking about investing in her pieces when the temperatures plummet, you'll definitely need to layer up.
