London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2011: Julien Macdonald
It seems the goth girl and the Baroque princess can duke it out over Julien Macdonald's Fall 2011 Collection. The incongruity of heavy knits and furs with bare legs and chests only adds to the adolescent feel of some of the clothes, but this aesthetic gives way to more elegant gowns and silhouettes before you can pass judgement. Always dark, in mood even when the color palette shifted from midnight black to a champagne, you can never fault Macdonald for lacking dimension. The textures and details are the real standouts of the collection.
