London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2011: Todd Lynn (video)
Since debuting at London Fashion Week in 2007, we've all come to expect a strong collection of tailoring and signature futuristic pieces from Todd Lynn. This leads us to pray that one day he'll follow in the footsteps of the Rodarte sisters and design for a film. I'm picturing Kate Beckinsale donning his designs in a sequel to 'Underworld'.

The Todd Lynn woman is strong and confident and let's her clothes do all the talking but this season her presence was a lot softer from what we've seen in the past. Rather than sticking to only showing his usual strong black tailoring, this season he introduced maxi dresses in bright red and muted greys which added a new sense of femininity to the collection. But don't be fooled, the Lynn woman hasn't become a shrinking violet just yet. Where dresses were used, the designer added either a sleeveless leather jacket with an asymmetric zip down the front, or a sharp jacket with a high turn up collar to add an edge.
Lynn is one of my favourite designers on the London schedule because his collections are always focused and distinctively 'him'. Never one to be steered by trends, each season he continues to rework his signature pieces whilst always trying something new. Even if it's in the structure of the neckline of a jacket, which he did this season, or with the colour palette and fabrics used.
