London Fashion Week: Antonio Berardi Autumn 2011
The fashpack turned up in their hundreds for Antonio Berardi's Autumn Winter 2011 show at The Drapers Hall this morning. A grand, opulant and regal setting for the internationally influential designer's collection, where models strutted down a carpeted runway beneath crystal chandeliers and guests invited to sit on wooden banqueting chairs and sip Evian water.
The runway show began with a sports luxe feel with cream and white mesh textures and exaggerated skater skirts. Things then took a more sophisticated turn with a series of beautifully tailored monochrome toned outerwear in wool and fur. Then came some seriously sophisticated pencil dresses with simple geometric prints, exquisitely cut, impressive structural detailing and to die for embellishments.
Accents of colour arrived in the form of lime green and red with a metallic fishtail gown wowing all. The collection drew to a close with some red carpet worthy dresses featuring lace panels and embellished metallic textures. All models wore super high Mary Jane stilletto heels. A serious contender for Catwalk Queen's favourite collection of the season, we were lusting in particular after a minimalist, embellished floor length wool cape.
We managed to catch up with front row guest Olivia Palermo at the end of the show who deemed the collection beautiful and thought the shoes were "seriously fierce". She admitted that she's seen some good pieces at LFW she's seriously interested in. It's alright for some eh? I wonder if one of Antonio's creations will be one of them? By the looks of it, we'd guess so.
