Despite the announcement that Cerruti would be closing its womenswear division, Richard Nicoll has told Vogue UK that he is fine with the decision.
"Of course I would have preferred longer to make a success of the womenswear, but I'm grateful for the experience gained at Cerruti," Nicoll said. Purchased by the Li & Fung group in December, the company has confirmed that Nicoll's autumn/winter 2011-12 collection will be the last.
"It makes total sense to me that Li & Fung should focus solely on menswear as that's where their experience lies," Nicoll added. "I'm very happy with my final collection for Cerruti. I think it's the best of the three so I'm enjoying preparing that for Paris in March."
