Michelle Obama State Dinner Alexander McQueen red gown.jpg

The First Lady has been doing big things for British fashion over the last few days. During her meeting with the Chinese President Hu Jintao, Michelle Obama wore pieces from Roksanda Ilincic's A/W 2010 collection. These included a beaded wool and duchess silk satin dress and wool coat. If that wasn't enough, MObama attended the State Dinner for the Chinese President yesterday wearing a customised red petal silk organza gown (above) by Alexander McQueen! Anna Wintour and Vera Wang were also in attendance.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Akeroyd, McQueen CEO, has spoken of how the label has been inundated with requests for custom made clothing which may force them to lease extra space in New York. "We've been discussing it for a number of months because the demand is so strong." This would be handy for MObama!
