Zooey Deschanel sues Steve Madden
So things don't seem all that sunny in Steve Madden's world right now. The shoe label is being sued by Zooey Deschanel for $2 million over a breached agreement in which Madden was to endorse a "Zooey shoes and accessories" line.
According to the breach-of-contract lawsuit she filed on Friday, her agent secured a deal for her, which was later reduced to $1.5 million, that would allow the footwear company to use her name and image for said line. Deschanel was told she would be paid regardless of whether the line came to fruition.
The complaint alleges that on 13th October, Steve Madden "breached and repudiated" the new deal without explanation and refused to pay. Deschanel is now asking for $1.5 million plus interest and legal fees. Interestingly Madden may have backed out on this deal but went ahead on a producing a line with Katy Perry who looks oh-so-similar to Deschanel.
