It was an intimate affair for Chanel's pre-fall 2011 presentation, which was inspired by Byzantine queen Theodora. Speaking of the inspiration behind his "Paris-Byzance" collection, Karl Lagerfeld said: "Theodora was a circus artist who became empress, like Chanel, who was a little singer and became a fashion empress."

The collection featured elegant and sophisticated pieces, with a black-heavy colour palette. There was also a hint of regal in gold embellishments and jewel tones. And of course there was also a touch of classic Chanel in signature tweed suits. Check it out above.
