London Fashion Week S/S 2011: Julien Macdonald
Day three of London Fashion Week, and as the clock striked, well 1:45pm to be precise, anyone who was anyone (that being everyone of course) took their seats at Julien Macdonald's Spring/Summer 2011 show. A high profile designer such as Julien, down mainly to his appearance on BNTM and successful collaboration with high street giant Debenhams, was bound to draw in the names, and we weren't disappointed. Leather was the order of the day for Julien's front row VIP's with Elle Macpherson sporting a classic black biker jacket and Cat Deeley in spray-on leather trousers. Katy Perry also made an appearance, along with Olivia Palermo.
As a remix of Gershwin's classic "Summertime" flowed from the speakers, models sauntered down the runway in chiffon, tulle and lace in billowing feminine shapes and predominantly pale hues. We saw cute stripes on shorts whilst florals adorned dresses. Feminine ruffles, ladylike blouses and vintage style baby doll dresses took over the catwalk. After buying some 1920s dresses, cutting them up and twisting them, Macdonald added a little American sexiness by giving his models "Valley of the Dolls" beehives.
Stand-out looks included Julien's statement; the evening dress, with the gradual short to long asymmetric piece wowing the audience, watch out for these on the red carpet next season girls; we suspect the celebs have already put their orders in! Click play on video above to watch show.
