Giles Deacon discusses debut collection for Ungaro
In preparing for his first-ever collection for the house of Ungaro, Giles Deacon has offered a preview into what we can expect. As the new creative director of Emanual Ungaro, Deacon will skip the catwalk show and instead present his Spring/Summer '11 collection on 30 models at Paris Fashion Week.
"[Ungaro] has a romance to it and that feeling of Parisian glamour that people are attracted to around the world," he told WWD. In describing the collection, he offered keywords such as "fresh, light, colorful and French."
In terms of daywear, we can look forward to "superlight tailoring", as well as cocktail dresses and a "smattering" of evening looks aimed at real woman, not starlets. As the house's sixth designer since 2004 (not forgetting the whole Lindsay Lohan saga), Deacon admitted to feeling "very at home" at Ungaro, where there exists "a really great energy."
