FIRST LOOK! Tom Ford's debut womenswear S/S 11 collection
It was being kept under wraps from the media, but that hasn't stopped two images from Tom Ford's debut womenswear collection flooding the internet. Terry Richardson was the only snapper allowed to photograph the S/S '11 collection at Ford's New York Fashion Week preview. So, why all the hush-hush? According to reports, it isn't due to Ford's image control, but rather an exclusive deal with Vogue Paris, said to be edited by the designer himself.
Ford told the New York Times that he restricted photos because the fashion industry had become overexposed. "I want fashion to be fun again, like it was in the '60s. You couldn't wait to get the clothes and put them on, and I think we've lost that." Adding the pics and a video of the line will be available on his website in December.
Some of the famous guests to attend the viewing as well as model some of the pieces included Beyonce and her sister Solange Knowles, Lou Doillon, Julianne Moore, and Rita Wilson. Ford's womenswear collection isn't expected to hit stores until January/February next year.
