Caroline Charles SS11.jpg

First day of fashion week, three shows down and we're still impressed with what designers are sending down the runway.

This time it was London's very own Caroline Charles; with nearly 50 years as a leading dress designer expectations were high. There was a chic, sleek and lady-like luxe mood showcasing boxy jackets, waisted dresses and high volume skirts, think Pretty Woman day at the races.

The colour palette was dominated by monochrome with splashes of coral and pink. Fabrics were 50's inspired with floral and animal printed silk and sequined and beaded embellishment. Accessories were used to the maximum, models sported kitten heels, oversized hats, elbow length gloves and pearls.

Make-up and hair reflected the overall vintage mood, with red lips and classic flicked liquid eye liner and simple low tied buns. We also saw some pin up girl style quiffs which completed the entire look. Verdict; a classic mature collection with a playful edge.

This season, we've teamed up with official London Fashion Week sponsors Canon to create the ultimate LFW guide
