Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli.jpgIn terms of unlikely collaborations, this one has to be up there. In celebration of their arrival in Italy, Gap have announced they have teamed up with the House of Valentino for a capsule collection.

Valentino's Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli have created the collection based on "iconic Gap basics". It's due to launch in November, to coincide with the opening of Gap's flagship on Milan's Corso Vittorio Emanuele. In addition to the Milan store, the collection will also be available from Gap's London flagship on Oxford Street, Dover Street Market, Colette in Paris, and Gap's new Rome store which opens next year. There are no plans for the line to be available in the U.S. at this stage.

"[The project] brings together the iconic world of Valentino and Gap's fashion essentials. In this way, Valentino and Gap synthesize the current trend of combining luxury with basics," said the designers.

While no pricing for the collection has been released, it is believed to be within Gap's existing collections. The American retailer has previously collaborated with Stella McCartney for two seasons. The Valentino for Gap collection is due out around the same time as Lanvin for H&M... exciting stuff!
