tamaramellon_posinghandbag.jpgRumours are swirling that Tamara Mellon is considering selling up Jimmy Choo. Mellon, who founded the footwear label with Choo in 1996, is said to be evaluating strategic options for the company, which could result in a sale or a flotation.

If a sale is to occur, an amount as high as £450m - £500m could be reached, or it could be prepared for a public offering. Other sources claim that the company's owners may hold off on selling in order to profit a tidy £1 billion down the track.

Neither Mellon nor the label's majority shareholder, Towerbrook, have commented on the matter. Mellon remains president and holds a just under 18 percent stake, while Choo sold off his share in 2001.
