World cup gets designer treatment from Louis Vuitton
Last night saw the World Cup tournament come to an end as Spain beat Holland to lift the trophy for the first time.
Proving once again that football and fashion go hand in hand, the trophy that was awarded to the world's best team was carried on to the pitch in a protective case designed by Louis Vuitton. (Cue a lot of squealing WAGs!)
Italian's team captain Fabio Cannavaro brought the case on to the pitch at the end of last night's tense match to be awarded to the Spanish team.
Louis Vuitton's executive vice-president Pietro Beccari said; "We were particularly excited to be associated in such a way with the FIFA World Cup final, an event which unites nations the entire world."
The 18 carat gold trophy was unveiled by Naomi Campbell at the beginning of the tournament in June.
Shakara's performance of World Cup song 'Waka Waka' was received well by crowds at last night's closing ceremony.
