burberry_beautyimage.jpgThe buzz about town is that Burberry is on the verge of being acquired by one of the big fashion investment companies. Previous speculation has centered on LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, but now it has shifted to PPR.

With sales up by 24% in the last few months, and a tidy £3.7million in market capitalisation, financial analysts predict that it won't be long before the British label is snapped up.

Peter Farren of Bryan Garnier & Co reckons that Burberry has "an attractive bid target, thanks to its strong brand momentum and 100 percent free float." He believes PPR stand a good chance of buying Burberry as they're currently "in the process of building its brand portfolio". However, both the Burberry and PPR camps are remaining tight-lipped over the issue.
