johngalliano_presidentsarkozy_award.jpgFollowing in the footsteps of Giorgio Armani, John Galliano has been decorated as a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor.

The British-born designer received the prestigious award from French President Nicolas Sarkozy at the Elysée Palace, on the eve of the men's shows and couture week in Paris.

Looking on were friends, Stephen Jones, Manolo Blahnik, and Kate Moss, who said: "He taught me how to walk when I was 14." Also there was Bernard Arnault (the head of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton), who first recruited Galliano in 1995 for Givenchy, and then for Christian Dior where he remains.
