Chanel quash rumours over Lagerfeld being replaced by Elbaz (again!)

karllagerfeld_headshouldershot.jpgChanel has been forced to issue another statement denying that Karl Lagerfeld will soon be replaced by Alber Elbaz at the helm. During Paris Fashion Week, Jak & Jil blogger Tommy Ton heard that the Lanvin designer could be taking over from Lagerfeld, but this was promptly rectified by the label in a statement.

"Karl Lagerfeld is the creative designer of Chanel and has a long-term contract with the company. Replacing him is not an issue," it read.

Ton has since responded to the news by tweeting: "Guessing game is over. My source and I are the victim of a good prank played by Mr. [Riccardo] Tisci himself. He got us good :("

Tommy Ton didn't actually say that Karl Lagerfeld was being replaced by Alber Elbaz. He just said that he knew a really big secret.

  • So embarrassing ... relieved that I wasn't the one spreading the incorrect story. Yikes. That's a bad feeling.
