Valentino's business partner slams Couture show as "ridiculous"
Proving the power of social media is not a force to mess with, Giancarlo Giammetti, has landed himself in hot water after slamming Valentino's latest couture collection.
The long-term business partner of Valentino Garavani took to his Facebook page to air his opinions of the collection, designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, which showed in Paris last week. Following the presentation, Giammetti said he was "just speechless" but was "not sad... just surprised....We have always supported the new designers and we love them, but this time we have to distance ourselves from this ridiculous circus." Ouch!
Shortly after the rant and a backlash of comments, he was prompted to "delete [the quotes] because it was becoming [too] heavy." Giammetti was hasten to add that he and both he and Garavani "are always supportive of the designers of Valentino, even if we don't approve of their effort to be cool at all costs. But we will always be [supportive] of them."
