Sarah Jessica Parker dishes the dirt on her gig at Halston
Like many of you, when I first heard that Sarah Jessica Parker was going to be stepping into a "creative" role at Halston I was skeptical (blame Lindsay Lohan, everyone else has!) However it seems the Sex and the City star is pretty serious about her new gig, revealing more about her involvement with the label.
"I tend not to just endorse something," Parker told WWD. "I like feeling the stakes."
It is unclear if SJP poured any of her own money into the label, however WWD is reporting that her role will be president and chief creative officer of Halston Heritage, the label's secondary line.
She will also own an equity stake in the firm and sit on the board next to investors Jimmy Choo's Tamara Mellon and Harvey Weinstein.
"You could make many arguments to why I am not qualified [to be president]. I would say that I am very aware of the enormity of the titles, and how important they are, and my response is that they [the board] felt confident in their decisions," Parker added. "There is a huge amount I don't know and I am very candid about that, and I am excited to learn. There are going to be things that come up that I am equipped to deal with and answer and respond to... I have no allergy to learning."
Of course SJP is no stranger to working on a fashion line. In 2007, she launched a couple of collections under her Bitten label for US retailer, Steve & Barry's. She will now work closely with Halston's new creative director, Marios Schwab. I sincerely hope that these new changes will equal success for the label, unlike Lindsay's involvement at Ungaro.
