Jigsaw turns tweed on its head with new organic range
If houndstooth can be hip, then maybe tweed is ready to have a moment? It's a difficult fabric to pull off unless you want to add ten years to your age, but done right, tweed can add elegance and class to your outfit while keeping you warm and sheltered from the elements.
Jigsaw has re-invented the traditional tweed suit with a new collection made entirely from organic wool from the Isle of Mull in Scotland, which is certified by the Soil Association. All garments are cut in youthful and flattering styles, including a ruched mini skirt and short jacket. There's even a trilby, bringing the seasons's must-have masculine notes to the capsule collection.
Would you wear tweed this winter? The hard-wearing and weatherproof fabric can certainly look stylish when twisted into unconventional styles, as Vivienne Westwood has proven time and again. But has it really shaken off its 'staid' image?
