Mischa Barton hospitalised; under psychiatric hold
Mischa Barton has been admitted to hospital after police were called to her home in L.A. on Wednesday to attend to a "medical issue."
The actress/handbag designer was placed under Section 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold (the same code that Britney Spears was held under in January last year) before being transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
Barton's rep confirmed that the star will not be attending the world premiere of her new film, Homecoming, which was held last night but refrained on commenting further. She was due to fly into New York Wednesday evening for the premiere and a photo-shoot.
"I along with everyone on the 'Homecoming' team are saddened to hear that Mischa Barton will not be able to attend the film's premiere" said director, Morgan J. Freeman. "We hope she is OK and that her condition is not serious."
Meanwhile, her troubles don't appear to have affected her new model-based television series, The Beautiful Life. Filming is scheduled to begin in New York next week, and Barton is to move there. According to an insider at CBS, production on the set has not yet been disrupted.
As for the scheduled photo-shoot, the show's executive producer, Karey Burke said: "Mischa wants very much to be a part of the piece and be interviewed later, but she has to get well so that she can be healthy in order to start actual production next week."
Sadly, some might say that they saw this coming... Mischa was recently in London to open the Harrods summer sale, for which she was criticised for appearing "washed out" and "bleary-eyed". While in town, she was also slammed by the tabloids for her heavy partying and weight loss/gain. It's any wonder she now finds herself hospitalised - I hope she gets the treatment that she needs.
