Forty-eight hours after I posted the story that Lindsay Lohan might be joining Emanuel Ungaro as "creative consultant", comes the news that Esteban Cortazar is leaving the label.
Coincidence much?
Sources claim that he has reached an impasse with Ungaro over its marketing and advertising strategies. In other words, recruiting a celeb like LiLo to fuel publicity is a no-no in Cortazar's books.
Ungaro's CEO, Mounir Moufarrige, wants a famous face to star in the house's future campaigns, but they would have nothing to do with designing. Its womenswear section has not launched a campaign for years, and it seems Moufarrige wants to see it revived.
No official word from Ungaro has been given, nor has a replacement been put forward.
