Designer update: Emma Cook still going strong; Esteban Cortazar sues Emanuel Ungaro
Despite chatter to the contrary, Emma Cook isn't the latest victim of the recession. Instead and much to our delight, she is going from strength to strength.
Last week, rumours circulated that she was on the verge of discontinuing her line. However, according to a new interview with the Independent, Emma is very busy selling her spring/summer 2010 pre-collection to buyers, as well as continuing her work with Topshop. And while a London Fashion Week show isn't planned for September, she is returning to her roots designing lovely clothes that people can actually afford.
"I don't know anyone who can pay £700 for a dress," she said. "I know lots of people who can pay between £200 and £300 though and so it makes sense to design for them, in theory at least."
Meanwhile, things appear to have gone from bad to worse at the House of Emanuel Ungaro. Creative director, Esteban Cortazar is now planning to sue the label, presumably due to their disputes over marketing and advertising strategies. Namely, plans that include Lindsay Lohan potentially joining the label as creative consultant.
