In a typically inventive response to the economic crisis Comme des Garçons are launching their Black label, a limited collection consisting their most popular and successful CdG styles in basic black. The collection is being rolled out worldwide in Hong Kong, Seoul and across Japan as well as London's Dover Street Market.

Described as: "an emergency, guerrilla-like, temporary brand" it's a novel take on the current vogue among designers for going back to basics. We can imagine the demand will be huge, for the minimal versions of CdG favourites. The collection will only be available for about eighteen months, and Rei Kawakubo has setup standalone stores in Paris and New York In Paris especially for the occasion.
