Selfridges snubs credit crisis with £1,000 Easter egg
The world might be plummeting into a global recession, but that hasn't stopped Selfridges from offering up the most decadent egg this Easter. The department store has unveiled a chocolate Easter egg containing a Gold Bullion Britannia coin set inside, worth £1,000. The rare coin alone is worth £900.
Created by Melt's head chocolatier, the egg is made to order from a choice of Venezuelan, Madagascan, Colombian or Caribbean chocolate. It also decorated with 18 carat gold leaf and filled with sea salted caramels. *Drool*
As Selfridges's Director of Food and Restaurants points out: "Don't invest in the stock market this Easter, invest in the golden egg instead." Personally, I'd rather invest in a decent pair of heels. Happy Easter!
