petercopping_ninaricci_confirmed.jpgAs suspected, Peter Copping has officially taken over the reins at Nina Ricci as artistic director.

The British designer replaces Olivier Theyskens, with his first job to design a capsule resort collection.

"I think it's a name with a very nice history," the designer told WWD. "I love all the French fashionisms, and Nina Ricci is very much a French house. It's going to feel very close to all the things I personally like."

Following his appointment, Copping wants to focus on tailoring for which Nina Ricci is known for, as well as expanding the label's accessories offerings.

Theyskens left last month, with rumours that he will now be recruited for Halston, relaunch his own namesake label, or even revive Schiaparelli.
